An Ayurvedic consultation is a personalized process where a practitioner evaluates each individual's total well-being—mind, body, and spirit—to determine their unique body constitution (Prakriti) and any current imbalances (Vikriti) in the Doshas (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha).
The consultation typically involves three main steps:
Darshan, Sparshan, Prashna
Darshan (Observation): The practitioner observes the patient’s general physical appearance, body movements, skin, hair, and eyes, wounds, scar, gait etc.
Sparsha (Touch): This involves physical examination techniques, most notably:
Pulse Diagnosis (Nadi Pariksha): The practitioner takes the pulse to assess the flow of energy and the state of the three Doshas (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha) in the body.
